CASology week 76

This weeks theme over at CASology is 'Party' ... I've made an invitation card with Die-namics 'mini wavy pennants' die

Post Christmas

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas ... I did but am glad when it's all over and we can get back to 'normal' ..

My tag is based on this card spotted on Pinterest

I would like to enter it for Tag Along's latest challenge 'Anthing Goes'.

Christmas Houses

I made these cute little houses from an idea and pattern by Laura Denison ... they're about 11/2 inches square and 3-4" high ... and the roofs lift of to reveal a little box with just enough space for a tiny gift or two ... I love how these turned out and would like to make more before the big day but time might be against me

Addicted to CAS

Another Clean and Simple card this time for a challenge at Addicted to CAS where the theme is 'Pet' ...

I've had this little dog stamp (Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers - sadly no longer in business) for years and have always loved it - for today I have added the Christmas hat (stamped from a Whipper Snapper Christmas set) and coloured it with a red glaze pen and some Stickles. The circles are mounted on foam pads to give a little dimension.

Our little dog. Mollie is 2 years old this month and I've just realized what a close match she is to this stamp!

A Little Bit Crafty

Challenge Time again and this month it is, of course, Christmas Cheer ...

I've stuck with traditional this month and made some gift tags using a lovely digi stamp from Bugaboo ...

I've cut him out in two sizes and coloured him in with Glaze pens and Copic markers ...

Tag 1 has a stamped background (Paperartsy stamps) and glitter ...

Tag 2 has snowflakes stamped in white acrylic paint and glitter on the penguin ..

Tag 3 has a dry embossed snowflake background highlighted with white paint and Treasure Gold and lots of glitter ...

Hope you like them ... why don't you join us at A Little Bit Crafty this month and be in with a chance of prizes from our sponsors ...

Another card

This time for CAS - Colours and Sketches challenge ...

My interpretation of this sketch ..

More cards

Seems I'm into making cards at the moment - who would have thought ...

Yesterday's was an original but I'm not always able to formulate an idea when I want one so resort to 'casing' (copying!) someone else's at those times - I figure it's OK as long as I let you all know who did the original ...

Today's card is well 'cased' - I loved the original so much ... anyway here's mine ...

.. totally copied from this http://www.pinterest.com/pin/177610779028090597/ beauty ...

PS I'm not publishing it or using it for any competitions/challenges or anything else ... just enjoyed making it ...

Less is More

I've been looking at a few challenge blogs this week and the Less is More one caught my eye ... so this is my entry ... it didn't take long to put together . the hardest part was making sure the borders were level!

It's now completely dark here so the light is terrible for photographs - this is the best that I could do ...

Challenge

Darcy over at Art and Sole is running a challenge this week. She has designed some fabulous stamps for Paperartsy and has been making Christmas cards. Her challenge was to take one stamp and make several different cards with it. I only caught up with the challenge late last night and with limited time today have only had time to make three ...

I have used the Christmas trees from Egg & Nog 1 as my main stamp(s) and added word stamps from the same set, from Egg & Nog 2 and from Egg & Nog 4

Card 1 is clean and simple style ... I've cut the trees apart and just stamped 2 of them so they would fit nicely inside the frame which I have embossed with a die. The 'snow' is Paperartsy Fresco Finish paint in Snowcap ... I just masked the space off with post-its and sponged it on ... silver star brads top the trees to finish it off...

Card 2 is made using a pattern ... I think its from Mojo Monday ... this time the trees are embossed onto different papers, cut out and added to the top mat ... the middle tree is coloured with Stickles in candy Cane and Patina and the tiny tree next to the 'Goodwill' is also glittered ... a gold start brad has been added to the centre tree ... the red backing paper is patterned with tiny handwriting text but it doesn't show up in my photogrph ...

Card 3 is my favourite and is made in a similar way to the one above but I have used painted papers that I have made as the background and for the trees too, maybe I should have reversed the colourway though :-))

The reason I have no more time is because we're off to see Gravity 3D in and hour or so - I am a bit scared ... hope I don't get 'seasick'

A Little Bit Crafty time again ...

... and we are asking you to Sparkle and Shine ... you have probably realized by now that I'm not overly keen on cute, but I was attracted to this image from one of our sponsors this month,  Pink Gem Designs. I love tags but don't like colouring in too much so this is what I came up with ...

I've used a bit of bling in the form of pearls and gems to add the 'Sparkle and Shine', some lace and ric rac, a metal flower and some punched flowers to finish off and really like how this turned out. Hope you do too - why don't you come and join us at A Little Bit Crafty this month - there are prizes from our sponsors ...

Journal page

I have been having a great time at Viv Denscombe's art journaling class again this month ... this page took most of yesterday and quite a lot of today .. it's very dark but I finally think I like how it's turned out. There are lots of techniques and layers on here and it is a double page spread in an A4 journal - much larger than I usually work ...

Stuck down, torn book pages, matt medium, coffee wash, acrylic paint, reverse stencilling, crayons, Citrasolv art dies cut into squares, Inktense, moulding paste through a couple of stencils, treasure gold, oil pastels and splatters!

Tuesday 15 October 2013

Half way through the month already ...

... and at A Little Bit Crafty we are asking you to be a little bit shabby.

Here's a mid-month offering from me - still with the Halloween theme but a little more sophisticated this time - a tag ...

A flower made with Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and a little wooden bird painted black decorate this tag. Some hand dyed seam binding finishes off the top.

Come and join in the fun at A Little Bit Crafty and you may win a prize from one of our great sponsers

Fairy House

If anyone is wondering about The Fairy House by Laura Denison there has been progress .. I love this project ... I still need to find or make some vines to meander over it ...

More classes

Earlier in September I took a class with Viv Denscombe ... she is a lovely tutor and I really enjoyed my day at The Bramble Patch .. best of all there are two more days booked with Viv in October and November ...

This is the project that Viv taught and for this first attempt I stuck fairly close to her colours and layout ...

I love how it turned out especially as I did the finishing at home alone! Adding my own colours using coloured pencils was lovely and I think it looks OK ...

The process uses Napkins, Paints, Stencils (hand cut), Die cuts, 'doodling' and stamping.

When I got home I tried a page of my own using similar techniques and this is progress so far ...

I wanted it to look like an old Fresco on a wall ... just got to work out a focal point now and finish it off.

Classes

I've been busy taking a few classes recently ...

Last weekend I was with Lin Brown and a group of  Twitter friends having a wonderful time with Paperartsy Fresco Finish paints, stamps, embellishments and cardboard ... these are the projects we made ...

I loved how this turned out and for the first time I got the crackle to work perfectly! Lin is repeating this class and there may be places left ... I wholeheartedly recommend it - great fun ...

This is the front of the second project ... Lin's version was oriental but I stayed with the Lyn Perrella stamps from Paperartsy which I love ... some of the very first stamps I bought 15 years ago were by Lyn Perrella (sent from USA in those days!) ...

... and this is what it looks like opened.

A Little Bit Crafty - October

It's challenge time again at A Little Bit Crafty, and this month we want you to be a little bit shabby.

I stuck with a halloween theme and used an image from one of our sponsers this month, The Octopode Factory.

This is Batboy ...

I've used him in two different sizes to decorate a couple of treat bags which I've constructed following tutorials by ChicNScratch. I altered the dimensions a little to make them smaller. The doily is from a CheeryLyn die and I've dyed seam binding for the ribbons ... oh and there are some die cut bats too - just to keep him company .. colouring in is not my strong point so he's still white - i couldn't resist giving him orange eyes though ...

Come and join us again this month at A Little Bit Crafty, there are prizes to be had from our sponsors ...

A Little Bit Crafty

It's half way through September and there is still plenty of time to join A Little Bit Crafty's monthly challenge which for this month is 'Clean and Simple' ... this is my mid-month offering ...

A Kraft tag decorated with a little dog's tooth check stamping (I just masked off either side with post it notes) and a flower made from die cuts by Marianne creatables. I cut 1 piece in each of the patterned papers (scraps) and then 3 each in Kraft card. Glued the layers together to make a 4 chipboard pieces, which got glued on top of each other, and finished off with a brad and some die cut leaves made in the same way. A grommet finishes off the hole at the top and coordinating ribbon scraps are added to tie it all together.

There are some great samples over on A Little Bit Crafty so why don't you join our challenge this month - there are prizes from our brilliant sponsers ..
