Journal page

I have been having a great time at Viv Denscombe's art journaling class again this month ... this page took most of yesterday and quite a lot of today .. it's very dark but I finally think I like how it's turned out. There are lots of techniques and layers on here and it is a double page spread in an A4 journal - much larger than I usually work ...

Stuck down, torn book pages, matt medium, coffee wash, acrylic paint, reverse stencilling, crayons, Citrasolv art dies cut into squares, Inktense, moulding paste through a couple of stencils, treasure gold, oil pastels and splatters!

Half way through the month already ...

... and at A Little Bit Crafty we are asking you to be a little bit shabby.

Here's a mid-month offering from me - still with the Halloween theme but a little more sophisticated this time - a tag ...

A flower made with Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and a little wooden bird painted black decorate this tag. Some hand dyed seam binding finishes off the top.

Come and join in the fun at A Little Bit Crafty and you may win a prize from one of our great sponsers

Fairy House

If anyone is wondering about The Fairy House by Laura Denison there has been progress .. I love this project ... I still need to find or make some vines to meander over it ...

More classes

Earlier in September I took a class with Viv Denscombe ... she is a lovely tutor and I really enjoyed my day at The Bramble Patch .. best of all there are two more days booked with Viv in October and November ...

This is the project that Viv taught and for this first attempt I stuck fairly close to her colours and layout ...

I love how it turned out especially as I did the finishing at home alone! Adding my own colours using coloured pencils was lovely and I think it looks OK ...

The process uses Napkins, Paints, Stencils (hand cut), Die cuts, 'doodling' and stamping.

When I got home I tried a page of my own using similar techniques and this is progress so far ...

I wanted it to look like an old Fresco on a wall ... just got to work out a focal point now and finish it off.

Classes

I've been busy taking a few classes recently ...

Last weekend I was with Lin Brown and a group of  Twitter friends having a wonderful time with Paperartsy Fresco Finish paints, stamps, embellishments and cardboard ... these are the projects we made ...

I loved how this turned out and for the first time I got the crackle to work perfectly! Lin is repeating this class and there may be places left ... I wholeheartedly recommend it - great fun ...

This is the front of the second project ... Lin's version was oriental but I stayed with the Lyn Perrella stamps from Paperartsy which I love ... some of the very first stamps I bought 15 years ago were by Lyn Perrella (sent from USA in those days!) ...

... and this is what it looks like opened.

A Little Bit Crafty - October

It's challenge time again at A Little Bit Crafty, and this month we want you to be a little bit shabby.

I stuck with a halloween theme and used an image from one of our sponsers this month, The Octopode Factory.

This is Batboy ...

I've used him in two different sizes to decorate a couple of treat bags which I've constructed following tutorials by ChicNScratch. I altered the dimensions a little to make them smaller. The doily is from a CheeryLyn die and I've dyed seam binding for the ribbons ... oh and there are some die cut bats too - just to keep him company .. colouring in is not my strong point so he's still white - i couldn't resist giving him orange eyes though ...

Come and join us again this month at A Little Bit Crafty, there are prizes to be had from our sponsors ...
