DLP Week 4 The Blank Page -Writing Words with Friends
Week 4 Not completely original - I saw a tutorial a week or two ago demonstrating how to achieve this. I'm really sorry I can't remember where but thank you. I have recreated this from memory so not sure how close it is to the original and I loved doing it - it's the first time I have 'drawn' in my art journal. My words with friends are a little personal so are 'hidden' around the edge

DLP Week 2 - The Blank Page - Gesso
... and Paperartsy fragile papers challenge
The background is Gesso, Fresco Finish paints and Inktense pencils, with Gesso stencilled circles (behind the flowers). The flowers are made from Deli paper. I have brayered Fresco Finish paints onto it, stamped the flowers in Black Archival and then cut them out and glued into place.

Lin Brown workshop
Recently attended another days workshop with Lin Brown and heartily recommend these as great value and a lot of fun to go to ...
This is the page I made (I did the machine stitching at home) by bonding fabric to paper and then using Paperartsy paints, stamps and stencils to add background colour and interest ...

And for something completely different a couple of cards inspired by Gossamer Blue ...
For someone who wasn't going to blog much I am doing quite well this week!

Art Journal
Not really a blog post - lol - just a share of some completed Calendar Art Journal pages inspired by Art of the 5th group - I have completed a whole (small) journal and am beginning to think i can embrace this process - i like some of the pages much more than others but even those I really disliked I have been able to rescue to some extent - yay!!

Paperartsy
The PaperArtsy blog has been full of inspiration this week and I had a play with a few techniques from Ellen Vargo's tag book which is stunning.
Unfortunately I don't have any of her stamps (yet!) and I don't have the elusive dry waxed deli paper that appears on so many USA mixed media artists lists of essential supplies - if anyone knows what this is in the UK please let me know - and where to buy it.
Any way I used the paint scrape technique to apply Fresco Finish paints to my background, tissues paper to stamp the black and white repeating border and distress ink to stamp background in toning colour as well as a few other bits and pieces to create this journal page ... hopefully I am in time to join in this week!

It needs a bit more work and the 'journaling' but I think I will make this into a double page spread in my DLP journal

Another journal spread
Art to the 5th week 4 ... tip in closed ...
... and tip in open ...
Loving this process and now able to incorporate unfinished old journal pages ... also turned this page into more of a 'calendar journal' in Lin style and enjoyed this approach ... a cross between Art to the 5th planner, diary and art journal.

Art to the 5th spread 3
The challenge was to use an envelope as the tip in or as part of the tip in ... it should have been a recycled one received through post but I didn't have one and it was a bank holiday (no post) so used a black envelope from my stash. PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints and stamps.
I don't normally 'do' orange so quite pleased with this! Also finding that i have a desire to write a little ... just going with the flow

Art to the 5th
Second spread ... titled 'Selfie' - Yuk - but I did it ...
In progress above - lots and lots of layers - first Inktense then PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints - loved this look but knocked it back a bit before adding the elements with some dry bushed Gesso which gave it a gorgeous finish - it almost seemed a shame to cover it up ...
With the tip-in open above (although I do not know why I am showing this) ... and with it closed below
I do really (quite) like these pages - this was a surprise as I usually hate my art journaling - I need to brush up on my lettering though - my Dad was a sign-writer - he would not be impressed :-))

Art Journaling
Art to the 5th style ... lots of inspiration with this team ...
The panel to the right is an added 'tip-in' and you can see the other side of this below ...
This is the first prompt - 'your front door'. i am not doing planner style pages and I chose a different front door!
And I was 'showcased' on last weeks Tag Along challenge - thank you :-))

Journal Soup
My blog has been neglected lately - I haven't been spending much time in the art room (cupboard!) since Christmas. I have been trying to keep up with and sort out my work life - the dreaded day job that is - and have now achieved this - yes, once again I have handed in my notice! No job to go to but have realised it will be fine and I am now sure I do not want to be an OT any longer ... watch this space!
I have got a few things to share ... first another 'recipe' tag ... the recipe is 'a stamped floral image, text and the colour red' ...

The background is painted over a book page using the fabulous Fresco paints by Paperartsy, then stamped flowers, liquid pearl centres and a charm.
I have been dabbling in Art Journaling for a number years on and off and always enjoy the process, however I make too many 'pages' I don't like and then the journal gets abandoned and lies unfinished.
I also prefer smaller scale projects.
A few days ago I bought Kate Crane's online class Journal Soup - it is brilliant - and has solved the 'journaling' problems I have! Loose pages. small size and quotes (I have a collection of hundreds) ... here are some recent attempts ... the backgrounds are a mixture of inks and Paperartsy Fresco paints ...
